At a short distance away from Saint-Denis de Vaux, in Mellecey, the château de Germolles, the holiday home of Dukes of Burgundy, was built by Philippe le Hardi and Marguerite of Flanders, with the help of the artists from the "Burgundy School".
The tower and the entrance portch and the three storied main building with its rafters, its guards room under the lancet arch, overexposed chapels, oratory and heraldic frescos, monumental sculptured fire places, and a collection of pavements...
This castle is a pure marvel and the only one belonging to the Burgundy Dukes which is still in existance in France.
